Esthetic Smile Restorations
Dr. Smith and Dr. Peterson are Burnsville’s Top Esthetic Dentists
A Smile Makeover can go a long way in helping you achieve the smile you always wanted. We’ll sit down with you in a one-on-one meeting, giving you a complimentary consultation where you’ll be able to explain what you’re looking for, allowing us to give you a smile that fits your facial expressions and personality.
Our personalized, comprehensive treatment plan may consist of multiple cosmetic and restorative dental treatments combined to give you a smile you’ve always dreamed of. Common treatments include whitening, bonding, crowns, porcelain veneers, dental implants, and even dentures if you have severe tooth loss.
Restore Your Smile With Dental Implants
Dental implants replace your natural teeth to provide normal chewing and create natural-looking, undetectable replacement for missing teeth. Implants are the closest thing to your natural teeth and preserve your natural bone.
By filling gaps left by missing teeth, implants can provide better chewing ability, tooth alignment, and avoid jaw joint problems.
Fixed Dentures and Single Tooth Implants
Dr. Heidi Smith and Dr. Tanya Peterson understand that living without one or more of your teeth can be difficult and unhealthy. It can destroy your confidence, affect your speech, make you reluctant to smile, and impact what foods you can eat. Bridges or dentures can provide temporary help but may cause additional oral issues over time and not look or feel the same as your natural teeth.
A more durable, permanent, and attractive solution may be dental implants. Dental implants can replace one or more of your teeth and mimic your natural tooth structure. Implants are permanently mounted to your jaw, retain bone health, restore your chewing ability, look like your natural teeth, may be used to permanently attach dentures for improved lifestyle, and with proper care can last a lifetime.
Using a Bridge vs. Dental Implant Placement
A bridge uses the two surrounding teeth along with a prosthetic set of three teeth to “bridge” the gap. The downside of using a bridge versus a dental implant is that the two neighboring teeth, which are used for support for the bridge, need to be shaved down to add the bridge which sometimes reduces healthy tooth structure in order to achieve this. A dental implant replaces the root of the missing tooth, and a single crown placed atop the implant replaces the visible tooth. The use of an implant is a more optimal option for this reason.
Get a Stunning Smile Without Braces
Metal Braces are not for everyone; that’s why Invisalign® is an excellent option for straightening teeth, improving oral health, or just having a great smile.
If you’re a candidate for Invisalign®, your treatment will consist of a series of aligners that you switch out about every two weeks. Each aligner is individually crafted with exact calculations to shift your teeth into place gradually. And since your Invisalign® system is custom-made for your teeth, you know you’ll end up with your perfect smile.
- Comfortable: the edges are smooth and won’t irritate your gums or cheeks.
- Removable: remove your aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
- Effective: your teeth alignment will improve, so you can start enjoying the benefits of a better smile.
Invisalign® and Clear Aligner Technology
Straighter teeth and a more aligned bite to improve your smile can be achieved using clear aligners such as Invisalign® orthodontics. Using state-of-the-art 3D scanning, your teeth are imaged and the data is fed into a computer to aid in designing your aligners. Specialized software then generates a series of progressive trays that slowly move your teeth into the correct position over time.
The Right Place for Complete Family Dentistry

Sleep-Disordered Breathing
We treat several chronic conditions such as sleep apnea, daytime sleepiness, or fatigue that interferes with a person’s ability to function. Any of these sleep disorders will affect your quality of life and can be extremely hazardous to your health.
Symptoms may include snoring, pauses in breathing described by bed partners, and disturbed sleep. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, please call our office for a consultation. Imagine life feeling refreshed, excited for your day, and healthy!
Porcelain Crowns
Protect and keep badly decayed or fractured teeth while maintaining a beautiful smile. Made to perfectly match the shape and shade of your other teeth, they’re durable, strong, and undetectable.
Crowns should be placed before the tooth is so decayed that it may fracture. This can often help prevent the expense of root canal therapy in the future. If a tooth is too damaged to have a crown applied, a porcelain bridge may be a good alternative.
Preventive Care
By actively preventing disease and decay through consistent home care, professional dental cleanings, and regular exams, you will maintain a healthy, beautiful smile for life.
During your comprehensive exam in our office, you’ll receive a thorough evaluation which includes a full examination of your teeth, jaw, bite, muscles, gums, and tissues. This thorough evaluation allows Dr. Smith and Dr. Peterson to determine if you have full function and make recommendations to improve your oral health. If you’re a new patient, please call today to schedule an appointment.
Root Canals
Root canal therapy is an excellent way to save a tooth that would otherwise die and need to be removed. Most teeth that have had root canal therapy must be protected with a crown. This is because teeth that have had the pulp removed are more susceptible to fracture.

Tooth-Colored Bonding
For stained, chipped, cracked, or decayed teeth that need repair, Dr. Peterson and Dr. Smith often recommend dental bonding as a low-cost option to improve your smile. Dental bonding materials bond to the tooth’s structure that is being restored. We can use the bonding resin to create natural, beautiful modifications for the cracks and chips in teeth, filling gaps, recoloring, or reshaping teeth. The resin is available in many shades to match the color of your other teeth.
Same-Day Emergency Dental Care
There’s little that is as painful as a tooth or jaw ache, so we reserve time each day for emergency appointments. Dr. Tanya and Dr. Heidi and their team love our patients and want what’s best for them.
If you have a dental emergency, call us immediately! We can help with most dental emergencies, including a lost filling or crown, a cracked or broken tooth, or if teeth have been dislodged or knocked out.
Advanced Technology in Our Burnsville Office
Our office offers an iTero® digital imaging system which allows our practice to generate an accurate 3D image of your jaw, mouth, and teeth, which is essential for many procedures including crowns, implants, and Invisalign®.
We also offer an oral camera which allows Dr. Peterson and Dr. Smith to give a bright, detailed view of your mouth and teeth, which is helpful when discussing treatment or care concerns.
Veneers
Veneers are very thin porcelain pieces that are custom-made to adhere directly to the front of teeth with minimal reduction of shaving. Transform your smile with minimal reduction of your natural teeth!
In the hands of a highly-skilled Dr. Tanya and Dr. Heidi, porcelain veneers can provide you with an incredibly natural, beautiful smile. They are virtually undetectable and can dramatically improve your appearance. They are durable and long-lasting when compared to other cosmetic treatments.
Periodontal Therapy
Periodontal (Gum) disease is treated by carefully removing the bacteria and substances that form in the pockets around the teeth. The removal of this material occurs on a microscopic level and requires experience and skill. Our Burnsville dental team has had advanced training to effectively remove all bacteria. Sedation Dentistry
Suppose you’re anxious about visiting the dentist or somewhat embarrassed that you haven’t kept up with your regular check-ups. In that case, oral or nitrous oxide sedation may be a helpful solution.
Experienced and compassionate sedation dentists like Dr. Smith and Dr. Peterson understand your concerns and can make your dental visit completely relaxing. Conscious sedation and nitrous oxide sedation can offer a fear-free option to patients who feel uneasy about visiting the dentist.
Professional Smile Whitening
Many everyday things like coffee, tea, and wine can dull teeth. Smile-whitening enables us to significantly brighten your teeth for that dazzling look you deserve.
Plastic whitening trays will be made from models of your teeth. You will then place a special whitening gel in each tray and wear the trays in your mouth for minimal time per day (many patients wear their trays after dinner and before bed). A significant change in tooth color is usually seen in just two weeks.

Mercury-Free Fillings
The common silver filling contains mercury. Our Burnsville, MN, practice uses the highest-quality biocompatible, tooth-colored restorations to create healthy, beautiful smiles. Since the composite material adheres directly to the tooth enamel, less preparation of the tooth is required before using it. This means it is more durable and provides a more natural-looking result.
Mouth Guards
Any active athlete can benefit from wearing a mouthguard. With nearly half of dental injuries coming from athletic activity, isn’t it time to protect your smile? If you engage in football, soccer, lacrosse, mountain biking, skateboarding, basketball, boxing, hockey, martial arts, rugby, and other sports, protect your smile and health. Clinically proven to protect your smile from impact, our performance mouthguard has an optimal fit that reduces the tendency to clench your jaw during training or competing.
BOTOX®
BOTOX® has been shown to be effective in decreasing pain for those suffering with TMJ. With a course of BOTOX® treatment, you can decrease your jaw pain and improve the range of jaw motion.
BOTOX® also reduces the signs of aging by using injections to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows.
